Pyramid PIECES Team Attends 2022 NTI Conference

April 29, 2022

Last week, a group from our Pyramid PIECES team attended the National Training Institute (NTI) on Effective Practices: Addressing Challenging Behavior Conference in Tampa, FL. This conference, hosted by the National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations (NCPMI) and the Pyramid Model Consortium (PMC), is “designed to provide an in-depth learning experience built around the Pyramid Model.” The Pyramid Model framework includes three levels of practice to address the needs of all young children, including children with persistent challenging behavior.

During the conference, four members from the Pyramid PIECES State Leadership Team (SLT) participated in “State Day.” State Day gives SLTs from across the nation the opportunity to share their team’s progress and discuss strategies to sustain and scale up Pyramid Model implementation in their respective states.

The SC Pyramid PIECES team shared what our SLT has been working on, as well as plans for the future of the team. To do this, the SLT provided a timeline of the team’s history, as well as lessons learned through opportunities for feedback, and equity training provided by the PMC. Additionally, they shared the implementation of knowledge gained, the purpose of each committee, and what is planned for SLT 2.5.

After State Day, the Pyramid PIECES representatives were able to attend a variety of sessions showcasing evidence-based practices to promote the social and emotional development of young children. Our team is so grateful to have been able to attend this year’s NTI Conference in-person and to share the exciting things the SC Pyramid PIECES team has been working on, as well as to learn from and meet other SLTs, speakers, and even Tucker Turtle himself!
